Mama's Gardenias - what we do...
My mother loved gardenias. Their sweet blossoms were her second favorite fragrance to the elusive tuberose from her childhood.
She would quietly clip and scatter them in little bowls around the house during the entirety of their blooming season for our lives to be seasoned with just a little more sweetness as we walked through our days.
I too am a devout lover of gardenias now and a Mama myself. My home is similarly dappled with gardenias during their season as well. But one of the things that strikes me almost as much as their beauty and fragrance is their commitment and cadence.
Much of the year, the gardenia stands dormant with its strong roots and simple silhouette, taking in the sun and embracing its consistent nourishment. And then, in its own matured time, it explodes in an abundance of beauty and fragrance.
Blooms everywhere as it shows off to the world just what it can be and what it has to offer when given time, care and cultivation.
